Omaha World-Herald professionals talk interviewing strategies with public affairs students

Omaha World-Herald reporter Todd Cooper talked about important interviewing strategies with public affairs reporting students at a Gateway symposium on Oct. 1.

World-Herald reporters Christopher Burbach and Cindy Gonzalez also attended the symposium.

Cooper, a state courts reporter, gave a presentation on 12 interviewing tips that will get a reporter to the truth. A question-and-answer session followed the presentation.

"Interviews are a three-act play," Cooper said. "Our goal is to get as close to the truth as possible."

Public affairs students David Dockery, Mitch Warren, Steve Coufal, Holly Fredrickson, Patrick Favara and Lisa Dirks listen as Cooper gives his presentation on interviewing strategies. (Andrea Ciurej/UNO)
